Verde Valley News – Learn more about the Arizona Talking Book Library at the Camp Verde Community Library on Tuesday, October 22 at 10:00 am.

The Arizona Talking Book Library (ATBL) serves Arizona residents who are unable to read standard print due to blindness or low vision. In addition, their free services help individuals who find it hard to hold or handle a print book or who have a perceptual or reading disability. Schools, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals and other institutions can also offer the service to eligible patrons.

ATBL’s services include a lending library of audio books and magazines, movies with audio descriptions, and Braille books and magazines by postage free mail. Audio and Braille book downloads are provided by the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Patrons are loaned special equipment to play audio books and receive access to National Federation for the Blind NFB-NEWSLINE® and over 300 newspapers and magazines by phone and online.

The Arizona Talking Books Library staff provides assistance in selecting books for entertainment and information and records Arizona books and magazines of local interest.

The Arizona Talking Book Library is a part of the Arizona State Library Department of Archives and Public Records and serves as a Regional Library of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled. This presentation is an opportunity to learn if ATBL’s free services would be helpful to you or someone you know. Find out if someone you know who loved reading but now needs other formats to replace print books, magazines, newspapers, and movies can apply.

Learn more about the services and try a demo of the audio player October 22, from 10 to 11 am in the Founders Room at the Camp Verde Community Library.  If you can’t attend and want more information, an ATBL volunteer will be at the library on the first Thursday of the month at 2:00 starting November 7.

For more information visit https://azlibrary.gov/talkingbooks  or contact the Arizona Talking Books Library 800-255-5578, Telephone hours M-F; 8-4.

Belief vs. Suspicion: Will Iran go the Way of Iraq, Gaza and Palestine?

It was belief that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction that led us into war with Iraq. It’s suspicion that Iran seeks to build a nuclear warhead that has led us into war with them.
As it turned out, Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction. Will it be the same with Iran?
