Sedona AZ (February 1, 2017) – Would you like to know how Sedona’s City Hall works? Do you want to have a voice in the future of the city of Sedona? These questions and others will be answered at the Citizens Academy, a program offered to educate and reach out to the community. Residents will have the opportunity to meet with the Sedona City Council and various department staff to better understand city operations and issues.
The Citizens Academy begins on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. It will run for seven weeks every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sedona’s City Hall. This free program is open to city of Sedona residents who are 16 years and older. Those younger than 18 will need a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. Class size is limited to 20 participants and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Citizens who complete the academy are encouraged to participate in the Citizen Engagement Program and/or apply for vacancies on city boards, commissions and committees.
“Citizens Academy is such a great way to understand all the moving parts at City Hall. By completing the academy, we hope to enhance citizen participation and get residents more interested in the planning and processes of Sedona,” said Lauren Browne, citizen engagement coordinator, city of Sedona.
For more information or an application, contact Browne at 928-203-5068, email LBrowne@SedonaAZ.gov, or visit www.SedonaAZ.gov/CitizensAcademy. The deadline for applications is Thursday, February 23, 2017.
