Sedona AZ (November 29, 2016) – UPDATE – We love updates like this! Noel has been found, and reunited with her human!
###
Sedona AZ (November 28, 2016) – On November 5th a woman named Danita from Phoenix and her dog named Noel were up in West Sedona for a business trip. They were staying at a hotel on 89a near Dry Creek Road, when Danita came back from work and the door to the hotel room was wide open. Apparently housekeeping entered the room and Noel was nowhere to be found.
Noel is a 4-year-old, large breed, husky/golden mix weighing 60 pounds with a red collar and tags including her name, phone, microchip and rabies.
Noel’s other owner Danita Leonard has been in search for Noel ever since. Danita searches day and night for Noel along with her trustworthy companion Bear as they are Noel’s family. They will not give up their search until they find her.
Danita has not been searching alone as she has made many friends in Sedona through this search people on the lookout for Noel. She has had the gracious support of strangers who have offered her and Bear a place to stay, a place to help set up a trap to help catch Noel, a local printing company who has supported the search for Noel and local businesses that have posted flyers to raise awareness, in hopes of finding Noel before temperatures change becoming colder.
Danita has been working with the local rescues, shelters, police, veterinarians, hotels, restaurants and many locals who are aware and keeping an eye out.
One rescue in particular is Central Arizona Animal Search and Rescue based out of Camp Verde founded by Mitzie Christian and her volunteers. CAASR has been working closely with Danita and Bear. CAASR has set a trap in an undisclosed location that Noel has been seen most recently. Noel has even been seen by Danita a few days ago, but it was dark and a car was approaching at sunset and the headlights scared Noel off, and she went running.
CAASR has been successfully searching for lost dogs for over a year and half now. CAASR has an 85% return and rescue rate on their search and rescues.
CAASR was inspired by Mitzie because she wanted to help reunite lost pets with their owners and also to rescue the abandoned dogs that people often dump in the wilderness. Mitzie has actually been doing this for 4-5 years prior to founding CAASR when she decided that they needed a name and actual rescue status.
CAASR does not charge for their services as they are all volunteer based and donations are appreciated. Their financial resources to make their mission possible are strictly by donation and their yard sales that take place from the corner of Mingus and Main Street in Cottonwood behind a Circle K across from Goodwill. The yard sales take place every other week Thursday through Saturday from 9 to 4.
The search for Noel continues with the assistance of CAASR who would like to please ask the community to be on the lookout for Noel however if you spot her please don’t run after her or try to catch her. Fear based dogs such as Noel are confused and frightened, they keep running. The best strategy for the return of Noel is to trap her. Anyone with a sighting of Noel is asked to please contact 602 524-7357.
If you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer or supporter, please contact Central Arizona Animal Search and Rescue at 520-921-9974 or on Facebook. Mailing address: P.O Box 4394, Camp Verde, AZ 86322
