Sedona AZ (March 31, 2016) – The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting the next in its Living History speaker series on Wednesday April 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Museum. The topic will be “The National Register of Historical Places: What the Heck is it?” with Nancy Burgess.
The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the nation’s historic places worthy of preservation, authorized in 1966. What does designation mean…and not mean…to property owners and the citizenry of the U.S.? Nancy will share her work writing applications for historical buildings and sites in Sedona and Central Arizona. Attendees will learn what it takes to earn the status that many buildings hold within our area, including the Jordan Farmstead which houses the Sedona Heritage Museum today. Nancy wrote that successful nomination.
Nancy is an Arizona native who is a passionate historian and photographer. Her work is featured in many books and magazines.
Every year, the Sedona Heritage Museum presents a series of Living History talks. Speakers include descendants of pioneers, long‑time residents with historical stories to share or other story‑tellers about history.
