logo_azdotCamp Verde AZ (April 25, 2014) – Motorists traveling overnight between Phoenix and Flagstaff need to plan ahead, be alert for work zones and allow extra travel time due to paving projects at two locations along Interstate 17 between the State Route 169 junction and Camp Verde.

Beginning on Sunday, April 27, northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane just south of the SR 169 junction (milepost 277) for the start of a $6.4 million pavement improvement project that will upgrade a 10-mile section of I-17 between the Orme Road/Dugas Road exit and SR 169 junction (mileposts 269-279). Work hours will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday, May 2.

Just north of this location, I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction overnight only Tuesday, April 29 for paving work and to remove the existing concrete barrier on the highway south of Camp Verde (mileposts 280-282) as part of an $11.6 million climbing lane project. Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane on Monday, April 28, Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1.

Work hours on the climbing lane project are from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday, May 2. Drivers should be aware of slow-moving truck traffic through the work zone.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at az511.gov or call 5-1-1.
