Sedona AZ (June 25, 2013) – The City of Sedona has sent a letter to the Arizona Corporation Commission asking the Commission to support households to opt out of the APS Smart Meter program at no fee. The city sees no justification in charging households “exorbitant” fees for opting out.

Good Afternoon Mike (City Attorney),
This was the motion upon which Council affirmatively voted on June 19:
Direct staff to prepare a statement for the Arizona
Corporation Commission that expresses concerns, on behalf
of our citizens, that smart meters have not been proven safe,
and until such time as definitive proof exists, the Arizona
Corporation Commission should allow the Sedona
community to opt-out without penalties
May I please impose upon you for the answer to this question:
Since “the Sedona community” is not a legal entity and is merely a noun describing, not even the legal residents of our City, but only the aggregation of the people who are involved one way or another with the City, who would this statement refer to and how would APS determine whom it would apply to if they were to concur with it?
Thank you,
Rick
