Sedona, Az — What does it take to fight to the death? This is a question every soldier must ponder before they go to war. In the thick of battle, survival depends on a simple, primal truth: kill or be killed.
It doesn’t matter whether a soldier volunteered or was drafted; when they’re out there, the struggle is the same. They put their lives on the line, making sacrifices that few of us can imagine, for the sake of our freedom and security.
Men have fought and killed throughout history, either to take what they desire or to protect what they have.
This fact of life has shaped our world. Some kill for material gain, while others fight to protect their homeland, their families, and the freedoms we hold dear.
But in the chaos of the battlefield, these motives blur, and it all comes down to survival. We must respect and admire our veterans for enduring such trials on our behalf. Their bravery, dedication, and strength deserve our deepest gratitude.
Think for a moment about the horrors they face: charging headlong into enemy fire, running across fields riddled with landmines, witnessing friends fall around them, torn apart by explosions.
Imagine the courage it takes to charge a fortified enemy position, to push forward when every instinct tells you to flee.
For those of us who have never known war, these experiences are almost beyond comprehension. But for veterans, they’re unforgettable. These memories burn into their minds, leaving scars that many carry for the rest of their lives.
So many veterans struggle after their service. The traumas they endure cannot simply be left behind on the battlefield.
For some, the horrors they witnessed, the things they had to do, become too much to bear. Tragically, this struggle drives some to end their own lives. We owe it to these men and women to understand their pain, to acknowledge their sacrifice, and to extend a hand to those in need.
Every veteran deserves our respect, regardless of why they served. Many wear their uniforms proudly, believing wholeheartedly in the cause they fought for.
Others come to see themselves as pawns, exploited for corporate gain or political agendas, their lives risked for profit rather than principle. This bitterness is valid and shouldn’t be dismissed. Soldiers may join believing in noble ideals, only to realize later how they were used.
So, the next time you see the flag waving freely, take a moment to think about those who made it possible. Whether or not you agree with the reasons for war, remember the veterans who fought, who suffered, and who paid a price for that freedom. Some may still question why they were sent to fight, but their bravery is unquestionable. Honor them, respect them, and appreciate the liberty they defended at such great cost.

Respecting our veterans is standing with them on the principles for which they serve not voting against it!
