
ADOT SR 179 construction update for week of July 6, 2009
Sedona, AZ - (July 3, 2009) -
All highway construction in the area will end on
Thursday, July 2 at the end of the day and resume
Monday, July 6 at 7 a.m. in observance of the 4th of
July holiday. ADOT officials ask that drivers please
be aware that all posted and reduced speed limits
apply and will be strictly enforced throughout the
holiday weekend.
Bowstring Drive Closure
Bowstring Drive will be closed Monday, July 6
through Friday, July 10 to perform necessary testing
and backfill of the newly installed water line. All
traffic will be detoured to Arrow Drive and back to
SR 179. Please drive carefully and follow all
traffic control devices. Flaggers will be onsite
during construction hours to help direct traffic
through this area.
Night Paving
Crews will pave southbound SR 179 at Back O’ Beyond
and southbound at San Miguel Monday, July 6 starting
at 9 p.m. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic
through this area.
Pedestrian Bridge Open at Oak Creek
The pedestrian bridge is complete. A temporary
access to the pedestrian bridge is open for the July
4th weekend.
Wall Work at Poco Diablo
Lane shifts have occurred and construction of
retaining walls adjacent to Poco Diablo has begun.
Access to Poco Diablo at Doodlebug and Oak Creek
Cliffs will remain open.
Village Landscaping Substantially Complete
As of this week, the Village Enhancement project is
substantially complete. All features are in (plants,
rock mulch, pedestrian lighting, rock walls,
irrigation system, etc.), and the contractor and
ADOT will be performing the final inspections in the
upcoming weeks to start the six month landscape
establishment period. Please come join the
