Sedona, AZ -- Born to exceptionally intuitive parents, Jewels Carlson is not surprised that she also has extraordinary gifts; in fact, Jewels says that all of her immediate family members are ‘talented’ in some way.Growing up in San Diego, California, Jewels says she showed clairvoyant powers by the age of 7 and when her parents recognized this they encouraged her to take classes to develop and channel her talents. A clairvoyant is someone who has the ability to see objects or events that cannot be perceived by one's normal senses.
Unlike many gifted children, she was not scoffed at or discouraged; instead her family was supportive and understanding. Today Jewels is thankful that her family was so helpful because ‘the gift,’ as she calls it, can be a very frightening thing to a child unable to comprehend why she is different, why she can see or sense things others cannot.
Jewels says her mother was clairvoyant and was involved in energy work and Reiki.
According to the International Center for Reiki Training, "Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by laying on hands and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means God's Wisdom or the Higher Power and Ki which is life force energy. So Reiki is actually spiritually guided life force energy."
Having grown up exposed to Reiki, it was natural that Jewels gravitated to this field as well. She became quite proficient, becoming a second degree Reiki practitioner able to perform energy work over long distances.
Despondent following a particularly devastating end to a serious relationship, Jewels sought counseling in 1990 but found it inadequate, and turned to Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy practitioners help heal individuals by placing them into a trance, making them more receptive to healing suggestions and therapy.For Jewels, Hypnotherapy struck right at the heart of the problem, getting much deeper—much faster—than counseling ever could, and was so beneficial and immediately helpful to Jewels, that she decided to expand her work to include Hypnotherapy along with Reiki.
Becoming a certified Hypnotherapist in addition to being a second degree Reiki practitioner, enabled Jewels to begin helping others deal with their own problems such as health and relationship issues, internal conflicts, and making difficult personal decisions. At the same time, she continued to take classes to help channel her gifts.
Today, Jewels utilizes her clairvoyant skills, along with empathic and psychic abilities and an indepth knowledge of Reiki and Hypnotherapy, to aid those in need of healing, guidance, direction and answers.
Always interested in learning new skills, Jewels signed up for a Tarot card reading class. She found that she intuitively understood the cards and was doing readings for friends after the first night. Word spread that she was extremely accurate—not to mention free!—and soon friends-of-friends were lined up for readings. Jewels knew that she had found her calling and honed her skills, eventually doing readings at parties and psychic fairs, gaining private clients along the way. She took a position at a New Age store where people were so happy with her proficiency and accuracy that she became very popular with many referrals and repeat customers.With honesty, a sincere desire to help, and integrity in her work being so important to Jewels, it was a shocking revelation for her to discover that not all people who do Tarot card readings are clairvoyant or psychic. Many read the cards literally, taking them only at face value; this provides a limited amount of information. Jewels reads the cards at face value and in context with other cards; clearly “sees” situations, solutions, etc. with her third eye; uses her psychic senses to gather information not provided verbally or by the cards themselves; and empathically feels the emotions of not only the person she is reading for, but others important to that person. In addition to reading the cards, Jewels often finds herself unconsciously and automatically performing Reiki, sending healing energy waves to the person sitting across from her. In 2002, Jewels relocated to Sedona and started working at some of the New Age stores here. It was there that she learned of a great website for psychic readings over the telephone. Intrigued, she checked it out and was soon working from home at 2 different psychic websites. Her ability to perform Reiki over long distances is very useful under these conditions—she often sends healing energy to her callers, soothing and healing them physically while simultaneously tending to their psychic needs.Jewels is very enthusiastic about what she does and says, “My spiritual work is the love of my life!
