Award winning actress Jane Seymour brings her artwork to Sedona

Sedona, Arizona - September 19, 2008 - Actress, artist, author and activist Jane Seymour is the featured artist at El Prado by the Creek during the Sedona Gallery Association’s annual Red Rock Canvas event Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9. The annual city-wide art event includes artist receptions, demonstrations, an evening gala and charity auctions.

Internationally know for her stage and screen work, Ms. Seymour is also known for her love of art and color which has led to her great success as a painter in watercolors and oils and as a designer. She launched the Jane Seymour Home Collection – a national lifestyle brand inspired by her homes, art and family-centered lifestyle – in Spring 2007. The line has been featured on the Emmy nominated ABC Network television series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

An accomplished writer, Seymour released her 8th book, “Making Yourself at Home”, a style book featuring her home and lifestyle tips in 2007. El Prado will host a book signing with Seymour on Saturday, November 8 from 1 – 3 p.m.

When she is not acting, writing or designing, Seymour can be found in her painting studio. With a thriving career as an artist and her own art gallery in Los Angeles, she has exhibited in numerous galleries and venues across the nation. Her art also serves as inspiration for her designs that include an exclusive collection of handbags and accessories.

Seymour began painting nearly a decade ago, prompted by a period of personal challenge, her art became the expression of a very private healing process. She emerged from this experience as an accomplished, passionate painter. Today, Seymour sketches and paints at her Malibu studio, on movie sets and on her travels. Over the past sixteen years she has created an intimate world of delicate watercolors and colorful vibrant oil paintings, and has accepted select private commissions. Her artwork will be unveiled for the first time in Sedona on Friday, November 7 from 5 – 8 p.m. at El Prado by the Creek.

Most importantly, Seymour continues to raise much needed funds and gives through donations of her artwork to numerous local and national charities which help children in need, raise awareness for women’s heart health and various other important issues dear to her heart. Her appearances at El Prado Gallery during Red Rock Canvas will benefit Sedona’s Camp Soaring Eagle. Camp Soaring Eagle provides life-changing experiences to children whose daily struggles due to serious illness often diminish both their desire to be well and their ability to lead rich, productive lives. Many of these children suffering from chronic life–threatening conditions have never had the opportunity to attend camp.

As the official spokesperson for Camp Soaring Eagle, Seymour states that she’s inspired to help raise awareness of the charity and “to insure that thousands of children can discover the healing power of laughter in spectacular Sedona, Arizona.”
