SEDONA, AZ - (March 12, 2010) - Boys to Men Mentoring Network is a 15 year old international
accredited 501(c)3 non-profit
organization dedicated to building better men by initiating the boys of
today.
Our mission is to listen, accept and encourage because ALL boys
have their own answers. They know what's right, what is good and they
just need encouragement to steer away from the choices that cause pain
and suffering.
Boys to Men Prescott Area Center is our chapter of
the international organization.
There is a small but growing group looking for boys and men to grow the
organization in Sedona. Currently, BTM-PAC is fully volunteer. As
of January 2010, we have had over 80 boys from Prescott and Sedona areas
attend our program and over 50 men participate as staff.
On March 26th, a select group of teenage boys will take part in an
extraordinary event, a rite of passage into manhood. Sounds weird, you
say?
For thousands of years tribes have taken boys of a certain age and
readiness away from the village and into the wild to begin a ritual rite
of passage into manhood. The boys return no longer as boys but young men
on their journey to becoming responsible men, providers and protectors
for that community.
This is something that has been largely lost in our modern culture. But
boys will always seek out tribes to belong to like street gangs, drug
cliques and bullying mobs - IF there is nothing else for them. They are
hungry for belonging and substance.
Everyone knows a teenage boy. This group is not just for those boys that
made some poor choices, its for every teenage boy because every boy is
critical to the success of our society.
If you know of a boy between 13 and 17, or if you are one, we are
waiting for you. No boy will be turned away for financial reasons.
If you are a man 18 or older, we want you to join with us in whatever
capacity you wish to participate.
If you see the need and understand the value of what we are doing you
can sponsor 1 or more boys to attend the weekend and the ongoing
mentoring program. Once a boy goes into juvenile detention it is
estimated that, over their life time, it will cost $1.7 to $2.3 million
to society. We have proof that our program stops this vicious cycle and
donations of any amount help; $10 or $10,000, be assured it does make a
difference. Imagine a 10,000 fold return on your investment.
The next Rite of Passage Adventure Weekend (ROPAW) is March 26th thru
28th. All boys must be registered by March 24th, and all men must
register no later than March 22nd.
